An easy hike through a small bog and along a rocky escarpment. The 237-acre Droop Mountain Battlefield State Park includes the site of one of the largest Civil War battles in West Virginia. The park is situated on a high mountain plateau overlooking the beautiful and vast Greenbrier Valley. Part of the battlefield has been restored and marked for visitors. A small museum contains Civil War artifacts, and a battle reenactment is staged every other year. Recreational opportunities include almost 4 miles of hiking trails, picnicking, and two playgrounds. Special attractions: A small mountain bog, scenic overlooks, and a walk along a mountain cliff.
