A flat, paved trail along the Ohio River. The Wheeling Heritage Trails consist of two sections: the north-south section, which runs along the Ohio River, and the east-west section, which leaves the north-south section in the downtown area and heads east into the neighborhood of Elm Grove. The north-south trail is complete, and fully open for public use. The east-west section is 75 percent complete, and the completed sections are open to the public. The portion of the trail from Rock Creek Road to Washington Avenue should be finished by Fall 2003; the last mile of trail has no scheduled date for completion. Special attractions: This trail passes through an urban area with the Ohio River as a backdrop.
