Brookside Gardens and Wheaton Regional Park are two of Montgomery County’s most popular parks, giving hikers opportunities to see a variety of attractions while enjoying the natural environment. Montgomery Parks continues to expand and improve the facilities and gardens, and it seems like there’s always something new to see. Brookside Gardens is truly a treasure. Founded by the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission in 1965, the property encompasses 54 acres, with 32 acres of cultivated gardens, and has more than 400,000 visitors each year. Begin your hike by parking at the Brookside Gardens Visitor Center, and ask for a trail map at the information desk. During the holidays, Brookside Gardens has an elaborate ornamental light display.
