Piscataway Park is named for the Piscataway Creek and its namesake American Indians, who were once one of the most populous tribes in the Chesapeake Bay region. In the late 18th century, the view across the Potomac River from George Washington’s Mount Vernon was one of woods and cultivated fields. More than two centuries later, it still is. The mostly level hike is only partially blazed and signposted. The hand-drawn map available at the visitor center provides a good over view of the site; however, be advised that the trail details are not completely accurate. Stay on trails and avoid trespassing.

excellent place to spend the day, pretty busy even for middle of winter, but worth the drive.
