Plants and wildlife thrive in the scenic Jug Bay portion of Patuxent River Park, in Anne Arundel County. Well-marked trails and observation structures designed for contemplation make this a peaceful and immersive nature experience. The reserve consists of more than 6,000 acres of salt marshes that provide habitat for herons, egrets, and striped bass. The 8 miles of hiking trails wind their way through several areas of great natural beauty dotted along the lower Patuxent. Jug Bay scenery consists of vistas, trails, beaver and crab habitats, and birds. Most visitors focus on attractions rather than hiking. Dogs are not permitted.
