Powder Mill is a small campground on the east bank of the Current River. Shaded by a grove of tall trees that fends off the afternoon sun, this camp is near the old Powder Mill Ferry site. Named for a long-gone mill that once manufactured gunpowder nearby, the ferry was the only local way across the Current until the MO 106 bridge was built in 1975. A rugged bluff towers over the Current north of the MO 106 bridge, and a mile downstream the most beautiful spring in the Ozarks tumbles into the river.
