If you are traveling down I-77 and need a place to stop, Camp Creek is convenient, but you may find yourself staying a few days and getting off schedule.

What the book doesn't tell you is that the road into Glade Creek Camground is VERY closed. They've had some landslides and have not repaired the road, so there's a gate across. You can hike into the camground but it's a 4.5 mile walk. If you go, there's a nice campground just below the closed gate called Grandview Sandbar. it's a bit small, but there are drive in and walk-in sites. The walk-in sites are right on the new river. Perhaps next time we'll actually make it to Glade Creek Campground, but the park rangers mentioned that there is no date for the reopening of the road.
