This is a 6.2-mile out-and-back trail in one of the remote canyons, or “gulfs,” of Fall Creek Falls State Park. The trail starts out at the creek level, climbs up on a “bench” of the plateau, and after about 1.5 miles on the bench, drops back down at the head of the canyon at the old Prater homestead. There are a couple of small waterfalls at the trails destination: Hemlock Falls and the small but pretty Prater Cascades a short distance downstream from Hemlock Falls. Both of the waterfalls make the hike worthwhile.
