already amazed by the views from the parking lot, I decided to shoot for Kicking Horse Camp 14Km from trail head. Immediately, You loose quite a bit of elevation-a very nice way to start a long hike. The trail starts off more like a Highway than a hiking trail but once you reach the first camp (Buckhorn-~5Km) the trail narrows and the people start to disappear. The trail, until this point is not very spectacular, due to the elevation loss at the trailhead but don't worry, after the camp you gain it all back again. Once the ridge is reached the Hike becomes very easy as you traverse along bigbuck mtn. Here you will find Miles of rolling alpine meadows with some flowers still in bloom this time of year. the views are amazing from here on in. be prepared for all types of precipitation this time of year.
