Nice out and back trail from a paved trailhead with pit toilets and a campground. The first half mile is smooth well maintained wide gravel that you could push a stroller down. Then it narrows out a bit as it follows the river upstream. We went just beyond the 3 mile post had lunch and returned after doing a little gold panning in the recreational gold mining area. Yes we found a little color. Where we turned around we got our first glimpses of the glacier. You will see quite a few beaver ponds along the trail and the wild flowers can be amazing depending on the time of year. This is bear country so prepare appropriately. You will share this trail with runners, mountain bikers and the occasional pack horse as well.
