My roommate and I really enjoyed this trail. I would consider this a good beginner/moderate trail, with the start pretty easy, with some steep areas later. The lakes are beautiful, the view of the surrounding mountains breathtaking. Don't forget your camera. This is also how you get to Bomber glacier, just over the ridge past the second Reed lake.
Great trail, beautiful scenery.
A great, quiet hike. The first mile or two are very easy, but once it starts climbing, it gets steep quickly. I went on a rainy day, and the approach to the talus field was very muddy and rather slippery--wear proper foot gear and be careful!
The scramble over the boulders was enjoyable, especially as the water wove in and out.
Upper Reed Lake is beautiful--well worth the trip up.
