Pilot Butte State Park looms over the city of Bend like a castle turret. It’s an iconic landmark and is used by many locals to orient themselves around town. With its trails up, down, and around the butte, not only does it serve as a popular spot for a quick walk, run, or bike, but the 360-degree views at the top make it a popular spot to watch the sunrise and sunset. Each year, Pilot Butte puts on its own show July 4, when it serves as the launchpad for the city’s annual Independence Day ?reworks display.
