While this nearly 2-mile hike is partially a walk down Davis Bayou’s Park Road, there are some great views of the bayou marsh, a numbered nature trail through a saltwater marsh lined with pine and sweet southern magnolia, and a bit of CCC history. The hike is easy enough for any member of your family, and the Nature’s Way Loop at the end can be split out as a separate, shorter 0.5-mile hike. Just when you thought you’ve seen it all when it comes to hiking at Gulf Islands National Seashore, you can add one more stop to your list—the salt marshes and bayous of the Davis Bayou area. This recreation area is located literally in the heart of the bustling little coastal town of Ocean Springs. Cross one of the town’s main thoroughfares, Government Street, where the road is wall-to-wall shopping centers, and poof, you’re suddenly in a land that seems far removed from the crowds.
