This little trail packs a lot of scenery into 2 miles. You’ll be immersed in beauty every step of the way. Alley Spring, managed by the National Park Service, is a deep blue and ?ows across beautiful rocky cascades into Alley Branch. Alley Mill is a fantastic structure and well worth a look inside if it’s open when you visit. In addition to the paved routes around the schoolhouse and mill, you’ll get a dose of trail hiking on the Overlook and Alley Branch Trails. The trail begins at the kiosk on the northeast side of the parking area. Follow the sidewalk north 0.1 mile, then take a short spur to a one-room schoolhouse on your left. Return to the main path, turning left then right to cross a bridge leading to Alley Mill. The paved path leads to the left (west) side of the mill, coming quickly to an intersection. Turn left and take the unpaved Overlook Trail. The trail switchbacks up the hill. Admire this beautifully designed trail.
