A sturdy boardwalk leads through windswept dunes to a beacon that guided captains and immigrants into New York Harbor for generations. On this narrow strip of land with the Atlantic Ocean on either side, Fire Island Lighthouse braves the elements and invites visitors to climb to the top of its tower for stunning views of the maritime landscape. Please don’t feed the numerous deer, which have become conditioned to beg for food from tourists.
