Tyler State Park is not only one of the nicest state parks in Pennsylvania, in 2009 and 2011 it was voted the number one state park in the nation. There are so many activities to choose from here that it may be difficult for some park visitors to make a choice. You won’t have that problem, because this relatively short, moderate hike to a famous 1870s covered bridge is all laid out for you. The land that is now Tyler State Park was originally known as Indian Council Rock, because it was here on a rocky cliff overlooking the valley that Native American tribal leaders held counsel for their members. In time the land changed ownership to small farmers.
