The best angling at McGregor Lake occurs in spring, early summer, and through the ice in winter. The lake has a good self-sustaining population of lake trout and is stocked by FWP with rainbow trout. In addition, the 1,500 acre lake sustains a few brook trout and yellow perch.
Most anglers concentrate on the lake trout because of their size, fishing for them at depths of 30 to 130 feet. A mid-lake bar splits McGregor Lake in half; many anglers successfully fish along both sides of the bar. On a good day you should expect to catch your limit of 2- to 4-pound lake trout.
