On the Blackfeet Indian Reservation just east of Glacier National Park, Duck Lake is one of Montana’s most famous lakes for big rainbows. It is popular especially with fly fishers in the summer and ice fishers in the winter. Duck Lake is the pride of the Blackfeet Fish and Game Department stocking programs, producing rainbows often over 10 pounds and occasional larger browns. The lake is stocked with up to 50,000 3-inch rainbows yearly, adding to an existing population of large browns and rainbows. You may also catch a rare bull trout from a one-time stocking. Wet flies take most fish during the summer months from float tubes. It is a big lake and access around the shoreline is subject to tribal and private jurisdiction.
