The peaks surrounding Deluge Lake are Colorado masterpieces. For those who love exploring rugged terrain tinged with a bit of danger, these are your mountains. Mount Valhalla’s west face is a matrix of secret corridors but, with the correct route-finding, can be kept at Class 3. Grand Traverse is a blunt fellow, simply challenging all comers to grind up its steep Class 2 slopes. And Snow Peak is the absolute gem of this area—if you only get one summit, this is it. A good, tough Class 3 scramble awaits. It’s possible to link all three together in a day. It’s highly suggested to camp out at Deluge Lake the night before your summit attempts.
