Buffalo Mountain’s grand dome is the visual centerpiece of this pocket of eastern Gore Range Peaks. There are five high-quality summits from this duo of trailheads, though Ryan Gulch is usually used exclusively to access Buffalo Mountain. The Meadow Creek Trail goes up and over Eccles Pass, where excellent camping spots are bypassed on the way to the highest summit in this area, 13,189-foot Red Peak. Deming Mountain is an excellent, overlooked high point that grants access to the sixth summit in this area, the tricky West Deming Peak.
