Madison Avenue was once the premier commercial corridor of Covington. Stretching from the Ohio River south through Latonia (becoming Route 17), Madison Avenue hosts many of Covington’s most prized historic buildings and businesses. At its peak in the 1920s, Madison Avenue was a cultural epicenter, with premier shopping, banking, theaters, and downtown celebrations. Currently at the core of the Main Street© revitalization efforts, Madison Avenue is undergoing a renaissance, with new businesses, developments, and projects, such as the Hotel Covington and the Gateway Community and Technical College Urban Campus.
