One word can describe Mount Lookout: enchanting. Located 5.5 miles east of downtown Cincinnati, Mount Lookout is tucked in between Hyde Park and Columbia-Tusculum. It is named for Mount Lookout Observatory, which moved from Mount Adams to this part of the city in 1873 and was later renamed Cincinnati Observatory. Mount Lookout’s lively business district, Mount Lookout Square, is lined with local restaurants and bars, contributing to a vibrant nightlife. Revival-style houses dominate its rugged peaks and wooded valleys, while hidden walkways and steps connect its streets. Its crown is Ault Park, which the city of Cincinnati recognizes as being in Mount Lookout, although nearby Hyde Park claims it as its own.
