The Foothills Trail runs through the forest nearby, and Townes Creek flows right by this wide-open camping area. Although it’s listed with the US Forest Service as a single campsite, there’s easily enough room to pitch several tents. The constant and tranquil sound of the creek can be heard throughout the night, lulling you to sleep. There are no amenities except for a few man-made fire rings, but this is one of the few places in the region that allows pack animals, so feel free to bring your horse along.
