Oconee State Park is quite lovely and was one of the original parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps back in the 1930s. The park is full of activities and even has a small putt-putt golf course. As for the camping, it’s a mixed bag. One loop sits above the lake, with gravel sites fairly close to one another giving you little privacy. The next loop is a bit more wooded and better spaced, while a third has paved campsites that are right on top of each other, much like an RV park.
