Although the national forest website has this listed as a single primitive campsite, in reality, several campsites line the dirt road just across from the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River. A lantern holder and stone fire rings comprise each campsite, and there’s room to pitch a few tents on most. A river access point can be found just before reaching the “campground,” which is one reason the sites stay surprisingly busy. Be sure to register your float plan prior to launching your canoe or kayak.
