If you have a regular passenger car, I recommend that you park at the beginning of FR 734 and hike down the bumpy road to the campsite. But if you have an SUV or a high clearance vehicle, you can drive the 0.1 mile on FR 734 to the end of the road. The Blackwell Bridge campsite, named for the old bridge whose remains you can see on the south side of Whetstone Road, sits right along the banks of the Chauga River. A perfect location for dipping your feet in the water, or trying your hand at fishing, but you must have a South Carolina fishing license with you.
