The day-use area in this popular local park is heavily used by the community. With tennis, basketball, volleyball, horseshoe pits, and boat ramps it’s no wonder. You can swim at your own risk, but there is no designated swim area per se. Or launch your boat and explore the far reaches of the lake. You can fish from your boat or the banks as long as you have a South Carolina state fishing license. Along with the many activities, the good news is that the campground itself is isolated from the day-use area. But don’t get your hopes up too high, for it too stays busy on any night of the week. Nearly half the campsites sit right upon the banks of Lake Keowee, but they are very close together, with little or no tree cover to separate you from your neighbor. As you settle in by the fi re, if you accept and appreciate the beauty of the lake with its crisp green water, it helps you overlook the lack of privacy that you have in this wide-open setting.
