This tiny county park makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time. Two RV campsites and a handful of primitive tent sites comprise the camping at Lake Darpo. The RV sites sit directly across from each other, and one has electric, water, and sewer hookups, while the other just has electric and water. As for the tent sites, there are no designated sites, simply a flat area, amid the trees, to pitch your tent. The lake itself is clearly the highlight here, with a small fishing pier and an unpaved boat ramp. While the park does offer several other activities, they are in need of some TLC. There’s a basketball court, tennis court, and volleyball net, not to mention the old-time playground that seems to have come straight from my youth. The campsites are lacking privacy, but since this park is tiny and off the beaten path, and reservations are required, you may just have the whole place to yourself.
