This trail leads from the Wallowa Lake Trailhead to the meadows at the base of the face of Chief Joseph Mountain. Chief Joseph Mountain trail is used to access several climbing routes on Chief Joseph Mountain. (Trail 1803) Hike south from the trailhead, on the West Fork Wallowa River Trail (1820) for 0.3 mile, to the junction with the Chief Joseph Mountain Trail. Turn right off West Fork Wallowa River Trail onto the Chief Joseph Mountain Trail, then bear left. The trail to the extreme right goes a short distance to a viewpoint of the falls.
