This spectacular hike traverses the hills on the east side of Greenleaf Lake and the state park. Hikers have the opportunity to explore the rolling terrain of the park on this 12.8-mile trail, which has become known as the Ankle Express Trail. The hiking/ backpacking trail is a collaborative effort of three local organizations: Camp Gruber, Greenleaf State Park, and the Oklahoma Ankle Express Hiking Club.
The Oklahoma region of the Ozarks is not nearly as well known for its hiking trails as the Missouri and Arkansas regions. This section of the Ozarks is known for its numerous lakes and great fishing opportunities, and Greenleaf State Park is no different. The park is one of Oklahoma’s original seven state parks and is known to Oklahomans as a very family-friendly park with ample facilities, including 1930s Civilian Conservation Corp–built cabins, tent camping, RV camping, showers, picnic areas, shelters, laundry facilities, and much more.
