This park is along the Mississippi River, with easy boat access, a good beach, and even a fishing barge. The location along the scenic river bluffs makes for good canoeing and kayaking, and spring is a great time for catching annual migrations of eagles and tundra swans. While this park doesn’t offer hiking or biking trails, several other options are nearby for those types of recreation, including the Root River and Harmony-Preston Valley State Trails, which originate in nearby Houston. Campsites are in two separate loops, with several sites looking out at the river. Pets are allowed.
