The Whitewater River and Trout Run Creek together draw a great many anglers who want to catch the multiple varieties of trout that swim in them. The terrain here is hillier than in other parts of the state, and that makes for some challenging but rewarding hiking on the park’s 10 miles of trails. There are several scenic overlooks along the trails that give excellent views of the hilly, forested terrain. In winter, cross-country skiers enjoy 6 miles of groomed trails. Naturalist programs are offered year- round. In a rare twist for Minnesota parks (in any part of the state), this park is known for its low mosquito population. Campsites are shady and very private. Pets are allowed.
