This park has 11 miles of hiking trails, which take hikers through some beautiful scenery in the huge basswood-maple forest, including Hidden Falls. Bird watching is excellent, with several species of woodpeckers (including pileated) and barred owls in the park. Those interested in rare plant life will be on the hunt for dwarf trout lilies, which bloom only in this area, as well as a wide array of other wildflowers. The flowers are a big draw in the spring, but fall is also an excellent time to camp as the leaves change color. Winter brings cross-country skiers and snowmobilers who enjoy groomed trails, and snowshoeing takes place all over the park. Campsites are widely spaced and heavily treed, making them private and shady. Pets are allowed in.
