This park is a 46-acre parcel of land that’s on the National Register of Historic Places due to the significance of the site, which archaeologists have determined was inhabited as far back as 200 BC.
Today it’s a heavily wooded area on Loon Lake, where fishing is popular. There’s also a paved trail that connects the park to the Iowa Great Lakes Trail (55 miles). A climbing tower gives visitors a view over the trees. Campsites are amply spaced here, and most are wooded for privacy and shade. Pets are allowed.
