This campground is located on the shores of Lake Shaokatan, which is a good source of walleye and bass, and there’s a good swimming beach too. The park has special significance for those interested in historical tourism, as it’s adjacent to the battlefield where a decisive engagement took place in the 1862 US- Dakota conflict. The park is great for rustic overnight camping and large reunions. Some sites are more private than others. Pets are allowed.
