Set amid the rolling countryside along the St. Croix River, this park has plenty of recreation to offer. The river is a good source of walleye, bass, northern pike, and trout, and it’s also a favorite of canoers. There are 12 miles of hiking and cross-country ski trails, as well as 12 miles of skate-skiing trails, that take visitors through forests and prairies. Wildlife is rampant here, and bird- watchers have plenty to look for. Naturalist programs are offered year- round. Campsites are well spaced and heavily wooded, offering plenty of privacy. Pets are allowed.
