There is plenty of wildlife and bird watching to be found in this park, which hosts the King Waterbird Sanctuary and the Lowery Nature Center. It’s not uncommon to spot trumpeter swans, osprey, mink, and owls, among other species. There are more than 25 miles of hiking trails, some with nature interpretive signs, 10 miles of biking trails, and 9 miles of horse trails. It’s also home to the Grimm Farm Historic Site, which dates back to the 1850s and is open occasionally for public programs. The campground is on Lake Auburn and offers spacious, shady sites. Pets are allowed.
