Located at the West Two Rivers Reservoir, this is an amenity- full campground. Crappie and northern pike are frequently caught here, and the campground has boat ramps, docks, and a fishing pier. There’s a generous sandy swimming beach and hiking trails that take hikers out to the rivers. Each campsite is treed, and some are secluded. Pets are allowed. This part of the state is one of the most scenic and beloved areas in Minnesota. It’s also steeped in history. Originally settled by the Ojibwe, the northeast area was soon discovered by Europeans who came looking for trade routes and posts. Fur trading was a booming business until the mid-1800s, when the traders and trappers moved farther west to the Mississippi headwaters area.
