Located within Chippewa National Forest, these primitive campsites are amid heavy stands of birch trees in the Suomi Hills and along Spider and Trout Lakes, good sources of bluegill, northern pike, and walleye. The Trout Lake sites are near the Joyce Estate, a 1920s mansion that’s now on the National Register of Historic Places. Water is not drinkable, so plan accordingly. Call the forest service for specific instructions (and information on which sites are best). These sites are all haul- out. Pets are allowed.
