Located within Bowstring State Forest, Cottonwood Lake Campground is a small, heavily wooded campground situated near, but not on, the lake. Fishing is most likely to bring in panfish with the occasional bass. This fairly bare-bones, remote campground offers peacefulness and relaxation, but not a great deal of recreation beyond fishing and boating, although the state forest itself offers extensive hiking trails and access to the 15-mile Soo Line North ATV Trail. (Note: The forest is open to hunters during hunting season, so take the appropriate precautions if camping then.) Pets are allowed.
