Whiteface Reservoir is known as a great spot for walleye fishing. It’s also a great family camping spot. While the campground itself does not offer as much privacy as some other nearby campgrounds, Whiteface Reservoir has a beautiful sandy swimming beach and hiking trails, as well as a robust lineup of family-friendly offerings and programs during the summer. Pets are allowed. This part of the state is one of the most scenic and beloved areas in Minnesota. It’s also steeped in history. Originally settled by the Ojibwe, the northeast area was soon discovered by Europeans who came looking for trade routes and posts. Fur trading was a booming business until the mid-1800s, when the traders and trappers moved farther west to the Mississippi headwaters area.
