Located on the western end of the Echo Trail and on Lake Jeannette, this remote campground is peaceful. The lake has walleye, perch, and northern pike. The Astrid Lake Hiking Trail begins at the campground’s parking lot and offers 7 miles of hiking trails (including those that go to the backcountry sites). It’s also the beginning of a canoe route that takes advantage of 4 interconnected lakes: Astrid, Maude, Pauline, and Nigh. Canoeing on Lake Jeannette is a treat as well, with a winding shoreline to explore. There are massive boulders left behind by ancient glaciers throughout the campground. Campsites are rather close together, not allowing for maximum privacy, although many are treed and have water views. Pets are allowed.
