This enormous campground right on the edge of Grand Marais does not offer the same ambience as camping in the Boundary Waters. But if you’re looking for a gentle camping experience with plenty of amenities, as well as easy access to the charming town of Grand Marais, this is not a bad option. The proximity to Grand Marais, with its robust summer tourism, makes it very popular, and reservations should be made well in advance. It has a great location on Lake Superior, with two boat ramps for easy boating. There are plenty of other recreational offerings, including a playground and nearby hiking and biking trails. If you don’t want to be/can’t be unplugged, here you have the option to access Wi-Fi. There’s little in the way of privacy or trees here, but it’s a reasonable alternative to the more expensive hotels nearby. Pets are allowed.
