Gooseberry Falls State Park is well known for its spectacular waterfalls and 20 miles of hiking trails that twist along the river bluffs and under the falls. Beyond this park the Gitchi- Gami State Trail offers a multiuse path that connects Gooseberry Falls State Park with Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. There are 15 miles of paved bike trails, but note that the park does not allow fat bikes here. There’s also an abundance of wildlife to see, and the park has a year- round naturalist on staff. The campsites are just below the waterfalls and are well spaced and shaded, allowing plenty of privacy. It’s a very popular park, and reservations during the summer season should be made early. Pets are allowed.
