South Pike Bay is on Cass Lake, a good fishing lake known for its walleye, northern pike, and perch. It’s also popular for boating and waterskiing. The campground is a portage spot on the 128-mile Chippewa Headwaters Loop Canoe Route, a route that is considered difficult due to its 6 portages, but goes through some beautiful territory. There’s also a trailhead to the Migizi Bike Trail, a 14-mile paved trail that goes along the lakeshore and is shared with hikers. While there is technically no swimming beach, some of the shoreline here is sandy. Campsites are well spaced and wooded. Pets are allowed.
