Knutson Dam Campground is all about the fishing, and the dam area is known for walleye, northern pike, bass, and muskie. This campground is also popular with paddlers, as it has easy access to the Mississippi River. There’s a fishing platform along with boat ramps, as well as a swimming area and access to hiking trails. The campsites are generously spaced and tucked into heavily wooded areas, allowing plenty of privacy. Pets are allowed.
Minnesota may be best known for its northeast corner along Lake Superior, and certainly that’s a strikingly beautiful place, but the northwest part of the state, while very different in terrain and feel, has great beauty as well. Even better, it has excellent outdoor recreational opportunities.
