The name of the campground might lead campers to expect to camp next to Gulch Lake, but that’s not the case. The campground is situated within the Gulch Chain of Lakes, but is actually closer to Nelson Lake, Lake 21, and Bass Lake. This is a quiet, infrequently used campground, mostly because of its close proximity to Itasca State Park. Campers looking for a peaceful place to camp that’s central to numerous recreational opportunities would do well to consider this one, as long as they remember it’s a primitive camp. Pets are allowed.
