This campground is within the Cut Foot Experimental Forest, which serves as an outdoor laboratory for studying pine forest management. When hiking or riding here, you may see signs and markers of studies in progress; those should be left untouched. There’s access to the Cut Foot Sioux National Recreation Trail, which has 22 miles of hiking and riding trails, and also connects to 120 miles of additional trails, all roaming through highly scenic and stately forests. There’s no swimming, fishing, or boating at this campground, but Lake Winnie is only a few miles away. Campsites are generously spaced and heavily wooded for excellent privacy. Picket lines and manure pits are available in the campground for horses.
