This gem in Land O’Lakes State Forest is a beautiful campground, heavily forested, with campsites spaced far enough apart to allow for plenty of privacy. Recreationally, it’s got something for everyone: Lake Washburn provides fishing and swimming opportunities, while extensive trails give hikers and bikers hours of enjoyment. The lake is a good fishing spot, with walleye, largemouth bass, northern pike, and yellow perch available. Pets are allowed. Minnesota may be best known for its northeast corner along Lake Superior, and certainly that’s a strikingly beautiful place, but the northwest part of the state, while very different in terrain and feel, has great beauty as well. Even better, it has excellent outdoor recreational opportunities.
