Located within Chippewa National Forest, these primitive sites are all hike- in or boat- in. Several sites are along the Turtle River Canoe Route and Big Rice Lake, and are heavily wooded with beautiful views and good fishing. Some (but not all) sites have picnic tables, fire rings, and latrines. There is no drinking water, so plan accordingly. Also, all sites require you to haul out everything you bring in. Call the forest service for specific directions (and for information on which sites are the best). (Note: This is a popular hunting area in the fall, so take the appropriate precautions.) Pets are allowed.
